Hextracer
Hextracer is a time-trial puzzle game set in procedurally generated hexagonal mazes. Each level starts the player at the centre with only nearby tiles visible. As the timer runs, more of the maze is revealed, so the player must decide whether to move with incomplete information or wait for a clearer route at the cost of time. Movement is in six directions using tap or hold controls, and a run is completed by reaching the goal in every level. Run lengths are configurable, with each new level growing larger over the course of a run.
Mazes are seeded, so a run can be replayed with the same settings to produce the same sequence of mazes. Run history records personal bests, level splits, steps and resets, allowing the player to compare times and see where time was gained or lost on each level. Two maze styles are available: Open Grid, which forms the maze from the shape of its playable tiles, and Walled Grid, which fills the board and uses walls to define its routes. Solo runs can also include optional Modifier pickups, which may wrap the player to the opposite side of the maze when stepping past an edge, require two matching inputs, briefly freeze or hide the maze, rewind recent moves, or indicate the direction of the goal. These can be disabled for standard rules.
The game includes online races for two to six players on the same seeded maze sequence. Rooms can be created with a code or through Steam invitations, nearby opponents appear as coloured ghosts, and live standings are shown through to the final result.
