Hunt: Showdown 1896 – Sage of Joseon

Sage of Joseon is a DLC pack for Hunt: Showdown 1896. It adds seven items: one Hunter called Roaming Sage, two weapons, two consumables, one avatar and one frame. The weapons are Cold Patience, an Uppercut, and Yecheon’s Treasure, a Hunting Bow. The consumables are Tiger’s Fury, a Dynamite Stick, and Winged Purity, a Waxed Dynamite Stick.

Each item is tied to the character’s background. According to the description, Cold Patience has plum blossoms inlaid in mother of pearl on its firearms. Yecheon’s Treasure refers to Yecheon, a region known for skilled archers, where the character trained in martial arts. Tiger’s Fury is presented as an expression of the character’s anger at the monsters he meets. Winged Purity is waxed dynamite painted with cranes, which reflects his wish to hold on to his courtly skills.

The Hunter is Cho Byeong-hak, a seonbi, a respected scholar and arbiter of social law, from Jeolla, one of the eight provinces of Korea. He was educated in politics, ethics, literature and battlefield tactics. Frustrated by the limits of court life, he joined a diplomatic mission to the United States. There he overheard talk of a strange contagion and slipped away to investigate. He found Corruption and resolved to heal it or understand it, as a scholar of history who suspects it may have existed before. He wears a mask and a gat to show other Hunters his credentials and to remind himself of his mission.
