JOHN GLEEP
JOHN GLEEP is an intergalactic action-roguelike in which players control a small alien who must pay off a debt to a mob boss by abducting gamblers from various planets to stock his casino. Gameplay combines dual-screen mechanics: piloting a UFO to abduct citizens from a planet’s surface while avoiding attacks, and managing a pachinko-style casino where abductees become gambling pieces.
Core mechanics include upgrading and customizing the casino using pegs obtained from a gacha machine, and collecting Junk and Gadgets found on planets to improve the ship or unlock new abilities. Players must also fuel a Hyperdrive to travel to new star systems, each offering different planets to raid. Runs end if the debt is not paid off in time, though new runs offer different casino combinations, planets, and opportunities to progress further.
The game includes over 50 unlockable abilities and more than 20 types of customisable pegs for the casino. Outside of raiding and casino management, players can explore a star system featuring activities such as clubbing, Binko Races, and Human Poker, as well as story interactions with recurring characters including the protagonist’s ex-wife and child. Permanent upgrades can also be earned through companion characters encountered during runs.
