KICKSLAUGHT

KICKSLAUGHT is an action game built around football. The player takes the role of an unknown footballer from a local neighbourhood and works through a career that starts in the lowest division and leads towards a championship. Each match involves running towards the goal while defenders attempt to stop the player, with shots needing to be timed to break through the defensive line. A goalkeeper waits at the end of every match and must be beaten to move on to the next stage. Opponents, defences and goalkeepers become stronger as the player advances through the leagues.

Progression is handled through experience and levelling. Matches award experience that can be spent on attributes such as running speed, shot power and durability, and completing specific milestones unlocks additional abilities. Items are found after matches and can be equipped and upgraded, with each piece of equipment offering different advantages. Between matches the player returns to the neighbourhood, where they can visit an arcade, take part in training sessions or buy temporary power-ups at a market before the next fixture.

The game also includes an in-game phone that acts as a hub for the career. From it the player can view a career summary, read football discussion on a social media feed and look up information on the upcoming opponent ahead of a match.
