It’s Fine
It’s Fine is an incremental game set during the final 24 hours of crunch on a game project. The player works towards shipping a stable version while answering to Joe, a dog who serves as the demanding Project Manager. Progress is made by coding, purchasing upgrades and resetting through a prestige system.
The game is built around a number of stations, each with its own resources and mechanics that change as the player progresses. Examples given by the developers include a botfarm that generates wishlists for the marketing team, a Voodoo Kraken that can be tamed, and a squirrel named Peanut who produces clean energy before evolving into a form that fires lightning around the room. The prestige system is based on sleeping, which earns a currency called Sleephours. These are spent in the Dreamtree to unlock permanent meta-upgrades, new mechanics and effects that carry over between runs. The description hints at a further layer beyond sleep for situations where a night’s rest is not enough to deliver the game on time, but does not detail it.
Additional content includes challenges that unlock special effects, hidden secrets, achievements and alternate endings. The developers state that no AI tools were used for the game’s art or music: all pixel art was drawn and placed by hand, and the soundtrack was composed by Alon Amit. The game was written and coded by a husband and wife team.
