Leap Tactics
Leap Tactics is a pixel-art platform puzzle game developed by a third party in which the level mechanisms are controlled by the player’s jumps. The character has an activation zone, and when this zone overlaps a mechanism during a jump, that mechanism changes state. Progress depends on working out how each jump will affect the surrounding elements and then sequencing jumps to open a path to the goal.
The game features more than ten jump-activated mechanisms. Examples include blocks that appear or disappear after a jump, claws that alternate between rising and falling, spiked blocks that rotate clockwise following a jump, ladders that extend or retract, and a companion character that jumps in time with the player. Precise platforming is kept to a minimum, and an undo function lets players reverse any jump immediately, so the focus remains on solving the puzzles rather than on execution.
Leap Tactics contains over eighty handcrafted levels arranged with a gradual difficulty curve, along with hidden challenge levels that come with hints for players seeking more demanding puzzles. Easter egg stages are also placed throughout the game world. The game has now been released on Steam, where it holds a Positive user review rating from more than ten reviews.
