Lootbound is a roguelike where players build a squad of companions, manage inventory-based item auras, and assemble a boss across multiple biomes.

Lootbound is a roguelike game in which each run begins with a single hero exploring a map, choosing routes that lead to loot and potential companions. As the run progresses, players recruit companions who join the fight alongside the hero, each requiring their own set of equipment.

Equipment in Lootbound is not restricted to fixed slots. Items can be freely placed and rearranged within the inventory grid, provided there is enough space. Some items generate auras that affect neighbouring items, strengthening weapons or armour in adjacent cells, meaning that shifting an item by a single space can alter the effectiveness of an entire build. During combat, the player directly controls only the main hero, while companions act autonomously based on their own behaviour.

At the end of each biome, players choose one of two available boss parts, which alters the appearance and power of a Guardian that is gradually assembled across the run. After all biomes are completed, the player faces a final boss. Special rooms offer additional rewards through risk-based choices, where more valuable items are tied to greater difficulty, determined through a dice roll mechanic.
