Lucky Punk: a push your luck Deckbuilder

Lucky Punk is a turn-based roguelike deckbuilder. The player controls a punk who leaves a settlement to gather supplies in a post-apocalyptic version of Cologne, Germany, fighting enemies through a card game. The setting is an eco-dystopia presented in a bright 2D comic style with Zipatone textures. The game’s release status has changed from development to released.

Each run starts with a deck of nine cards. On every round the player either draws a card or stops. Drawing adds the card’s Damage and Effort points and triggers its abilities. Stopping ends the round, and the enemy takes damage equal to the Damage accumulated, after which the enemy attacks the player. If the player’s Effort becomes too high, they become exhausted, lose all accumulated Damage and the round ends with only the enemy attacking. Combat continues until either side is defeated. The game displays the odds of the next draw, and the contents of the deck can be checked at any time, so no card counting is needed.

Progress is tied to supplies brought back to the settlement, which unlocks new cards and recruits further punks with different playstyles. The game includes 76 unique cards built around interlocking keywords, seven playable punks, and a range of consumables. Strategies include Block-based builds, builds that reward Exhaustion, and others such as marking the backs of cards to identify them. Runs are designed to be short. The developers state that the game was made without AI. The Steam description compares it to Monster Train 2, Black Jacket, Slay the Spire and Dungeons & Degenerate Gamblers.
