Lucky Punk: a push your luck Deckbuilder
Lucky Punk is a roguelike deckbuilder built around a single recurring decision: draw another card to build up Damage, or stop and end the round safely. Players start with a deck of nine cards and manage the balance between Damage and Effort, with too much Effort causing exhaustion that forfeits accumulated Damage for that round. Combat continues in rounds until either the enemy or the player is defeated.
The game presents all odds transparently, allowing players to check the contents of their deck and calculate the risk of each draw before making a decision. There is no hidden randomness, and success or failure depends on choices made with full information about probability. Runs are designed to be fast paced, with high stakes attached to each round.
Set in a brightly coloured, comic-style eco-dystopia, the game follows a group of scavengers gathering supplies to support their settlement after a billionaire’s failed attempt to save the world. Progress unlocks new cards and additional playable punks, each with distinct mechanics and play styles. Card synergies range from conventional effects such as Block and Poison to unconventional systems involving debt, exhaustion, and coin flips. The game features an infinite run structure and was developed without the use of AI tools.
