Mad Metal
Mad Metal is a vehicular combat game set in a post-apocalyptic America in the 2080s. In its setting, AI corporations built sentient machines that began acting without human authorisation. These machines now roam the wastelands, abducting people to convert them into a new half-human, half-machine race intended to inherit the remains of the world. The player takes the role of one of the few remaining humans, whose wife has been taken and whose daughter is being held by the machines.
Combat is built around the Dead Aim Targeting System, which slows time and lets the player target specific components on enemy vehicles. Doors can be broken to expose the driver, fuel tanks can be punctured to cause explosions, and wheels can be destroyed to stop a vehicle. Combat is viewed from inside the cabin in first person, with dashboard instruments showing the state of the vehicle. If the primary weapon overheats or the secondary runs out of ammunition, the player can draw a sidearm. Vehicle building factors in the weight and aerodynamics of every part, and augments picked up during a run can modify weapons and the vehicle mid-play. Active and passive abilities can be combined with a loadout, including sonar for tracking enemies through walls, caltrops for disabling vehicles, and a jetpack for reaching higher ground.
The game includes a solo campaign, open-world co-op, an extraction mode in which a team must survive long enough to extract, and ranked and unranked 1v1 PvP deathmatches. Boss encounters feature large enemies with weak points that the player must identify.
