MAFATE

MAFATE is a cozy adventure set in a real place, a secluded volcanic valley on Réunion Island that you can only reach on foot. You play as a mail carrier hiking gorgeous trails, delivering letters, and helping isolated villages stay connected to each other. Along the way you’re joined by Luna, a young Creole girl who’s mysteriously turned into a magical camera, and together you’ll uncover hidden stories and the quiet magic tucked into everyday life.

Photography is at the heart of the game. We love how it rewards you for slowing down, watching how nature unfolds, and waiting for just the right moment before snapping a picture. Every photo you take becomes a little memory of your journey, and keep an eye out for Bibiis, adorable hidden creatures scattered across the valley that are just waiting to be found and photographed. Luna can also leave her camera body to possess local wildlife, each with its own abilities, letting you reach hidden paths and solve puzzles no human could manage alone.

Inspired by the real landscapes and Creole culture of Réunion Island, MAFATE is a heartfelt story about family, memory, and belonging. As you meet the warm inhabitants of the valley and help reconnect their scattered villages, you’ll piece together a tale that spans generations, all wrapped up in some of the most beautiful scenery you’ll walk through in a game.
