Mikey The Hero: MANIA

Mikey The Hero: MANIA is a new entry in the Mikey The Hero series. It follows on from Mikey The Hero 3 and Ralph. Fred is working on a jet in the jungle of Freeland Island when a figure named Phillip offers him a deal, and Fred begins planning to stop Mikey and his companions. After Fred’s robot, Metal Mikey, sinks their ship, the group wakes on Recko’s Island and tries to stop Fred and find a way off. Along the way they encounter Phillip, and the story deals with Rosever’s past. Playable characters are Mikey, John, Ralph, Rosever and Sarah.

Players use a set of two characters at a time and can switch to another if a level proves difficult. Mikey has a homing attack, John has a dash, and Ralph has a boost. Silver, gold, lives and emblems can be collected across up to 27 main stages. Collecting Mystic Gems determines the ending and unlocks up to three special stages. Collecting set amounts of emblems unlocks Emblem Stages, with up to 16 stages and up to four bosses available.

The game offers five difficulty settings: Easy-Core, Easy, Normal, Hard and Lunatic. Stages receive rankings based on performance, and achievements are included. Codes can be entered on the title screen to unlock extras, including a sound test and an extra boss.
