Neo Junk City

Neo Junk City is a point-and-click adventure set in the Drowned City, a dystopian, half-sunken cyberpunk metropolis. Players take on the role of Buster 09, tasked with investigating a murder he believes he committed but cannot remember the reasons behind. The game combines detective-style exploration with additional gameplay styles, including racing and shooting sequences, all presented in pixel art.

Exploration is handled through a dynamic interaction system, where context-sensitive interaction icons change as the player examines objects and builds relationships with characters in the city. This system is intended to reveal hidden interactions and open new paths as the story progresses. Alongside investigation, the game includes arcade-style racing sequences through the city’s streets, where players must contend with a Highway Authority System that penalises slow driving. Shootout sequences task players with reacting quickly to targets that appear suddenly, requiring them to distinguish threats from bystanders under time pressure.
