Netherwyn
Netherwyn is an action roguelike RPG set in a land threatened by necromancy and shadow. Players choose from a roster of heroes, including the Berserker, Rogue, Shaman and Templar, and fight through procedurally generated levels populated by undead and other enemies. Runs begin at the Inn, where heroes can be swapped, gear and skills managed, items traded and upgrades applied before descending into the dungeon. The initial release focuses on the return of an ancient enemy known as The Necromancer, who serves as the campaign’s final adversary.
Each hero is defined by a combination of two masteries, such as Warrior, Holy, Assassin, Hunter or Elemental, producing hybrid classes with distinct abilities, strengths and weaknesses. The Templar, for example, pairs the Warrior mastery with the Holy mastery. Levels are assembled from modular chambers, with enemies, events and environmental hazards randomised on each run. As players progress, levels grow longer and enemies become stronger. Foes range from groups of Zombies to Goblins, Barrow Wights and trolls, with elite enemies introducing additional combat mechanics and multi-phase bosses that change across stages. Death returns the player to the Inn, where progression carries over into subsequent attempts.
The game supports both solo play and cooperative multiplayer, allowing players to coordinate hero abilities against large groups of enemies and bosses. A DLC item has recently been added to the game’s Steam listing.
