Petunia’s Purgatory

Petunia’s Purgatory is an idle farming game that runs as an overlay at the bottom of the player’s screen, continuing to progress in the background while other windows are in use. Players grow unusual, unsettling crops and deliver them as offerings to an Eldritch creature residing in the farm’s barn. Helpers can be summoned and upgraded to till, harvest, and haul produce, while mutated animals can be attracted to the farm and used as a source of blood, a resource required to keep the harvest cycle running. Raw produce can be cooked and crafted into prepared offerings for the Elder God.

The game includes a sanity system centred on the character Petunia. Planting flowers and adding decorations to the farm helps maintain her sanity, while pushing crop production too hard or neglecting the farm can cause her sanity to drop. If sanity falls too low, hallucinations appear and interrupt the screen, disrupting the overlay experience until calm is restored through decoration and flower placement.

The game features a customisable display scale, allowing the overlay to be resized depending on whether the player wants to focus on other tasks or actively tend to the farm. Progress continues during idle periods, with the overlay designed to sit unobtrusively on the desktop rather than requiring constant attention.
