PlateUp!

PlateUp! is a cooperative cooking and restaurant management game for up to four players, though it can also be played solo. Players start with an empty restaurant and build it up by choosing dishes, buying and placing appliances, cooking food and serving customers. Menu options include mains, sides, sauces, toppings, desserts and starters, with dishes such as soups, salads, steaks and pies.

Each run lasts 15 days, and play is split between service and planning. During a shift, players cook meals and look after front-of-house tasks, including seating customers, delivering orders and managing customer patience. When the restaurant closes for the day, players decide which new equipment to buy and where to place it. Some appliances can be daisy-chained together to form automatic kitchens, and equipment such as turbo-ovens and conveyors supports a more automated layout. Decorative options include art, wallpaper and a friend acting as a maître d’.

Completing a run unlocks a new franchise location, with new unlocks and upgrades carried over. Each restaurant is procedurally generated with its own climate, customers and conditions. Players can steer their brand towards gourmet dining or fast food. Between runs, they can return to the franchise HQ to view achievements, customise characters and upgrade their equipment.
