Runeomicon
Runeomicon puts you in the shoes of a dark wizard brought back from the dead for one reason: revenge. You’re performing the ultimate summoning ritual, and every rune you draw with your own hands channels forbidden magic. Mess up the pattern and the whole thing falls apart, so you’d better keep your hand steady while a mob of angry peasants tries to storm your sanctuary.
We love how the drawing mechanic ties everything together here. It starts simple but gets properly tense as your power grows and the runes get more complex, right when enemies are closing in and you’ve got the least room for error. You’ll unlock six dark gods along the way, each one changing how you draw, defend and survive, so there’s loads of room to find a playstyle that suits you.
Every choice in Runeomicon comes down to the same tension: push forward with the ritual or shore up your defences. There’s no redemption arc waiting for you at the end, just the goddess of death and the vengeance you were brought back to deliver. If you fancy playing the villain for once, this one’s worth a look.
