Rust
Rust is a multiplayer survival game set on a procedurally generated island where players start with only a rock and a torch. The core objective is survival, requiring players to manage hunger, thirst and temperature while gathering resources, building shelter and crafting tools, armour and weapons. The island is inhabited by wildlife, other survivors and various factions, and features abandoned settlements and monuments to explore.
Core mechanics include base building and raiding, a research and crafting tech tree, farming, and electrical and automation systems. Players can construct and use various forms of transportation, including horses, modular cars, boats, trains, helicopters and hot air balloons. Servers can be self-hosted, with support for server-side modding and community-made map editors.
Since release, Rust has received regular monthly content updates, including balance changes, AI and graphics improvements, and new content such as maps, weapons and vehicles. Notable additions include underwater areas, large train networks, musical instruments, a primitive game mode with siege weapons, and a jungle biome with additional wildlife and monuments. Planned 2026 content includes modular boats, deep sea areas, tropical islands and floating cities.
