Scriptorium: Master of Manuscripts

Scriptorium: Master of Manuscripts is a creative simulation game set in a medieval-themed workshop, where players design illuminated manuscripts. The game offers a Story Mode, in which players create a character and complete commissions for various patrons, contributing to an ongoing kingdom-wide narrative involving gossip, romance, and drama. A separate Sandbox Mode removes clients and objectives, allowing free use of all available assets for open-ended creation.

The core gameplay takes place on a composition screen, where players select parchment types and sizes, then drag and drop design elements onto the canvas. The game includes a library of over 1,000 images based on real medieval art, covering figures, animals, clothing, vegetation, and decorative marginalia, along with medieval-style fonts and ornate lettering for adding text.

Earnings from completed commissions can be used to decorate the player’s Scriptorium workshop with furniture, lighting, and other items, as well as add a pet companion. Finished artwork can be saved to an in-game gallery or exported as PNG files suitable for printing or sharing, and can be used for purposes such as invitations, tarot cards, stickers, maps, or tabletop RPG props.
