SIDE OUT
SIDE OUT is a multiplayer arena game built around a shrinking polygon. Each player defends one edge, and any ball that gets past costs a life. Players start with two lives, and there is no unlockable content or tutorial text; the game is designed to be understood through play. Every knockout removes a wall from the arena, so an eight-sided shape becomes six-sided, then four-sided, until the final two players face each other across a two-sided space. A second ball enters the arena at 75 seconds, with another added every 34 seconds after that, up to a maximum of six balls at once.
Players who are knocked out do not leave the round. Instead they become saboteurs, placing bumpers, warps and spinners into the arena while the remaining players adapt to a board that keeps changing. The game offers four modes: CLASSIC, with eight players on one polygon; ARENA, with up to twenty players around a ring of obstacles; PRIVATE ROOM, which allows invitations via a shared link; and SOLO, an offline practice mode against bots.
SIDE OUT supports cross-platform play, with the Steam version sharing rooms with players on web browsers and phones. Bots fill any empty sides so rounds begin without waiting for a full lobby, and players joining mid-match replace a bot immediately. Rounds typically last one to two minutes. The game has now moved from development to full release.
