Splatter Piece

Splatter Piece is a first-person party game for one to eight players. Players share an art gallery, each taking an easel, and try to reproduce a famous painting shown on the gallery wall before time runs out. Online matches support two to eight players through Steam friend invitations, public rooms or a room code, with an optional password. A single-player practice mode uses the same scoring and leaderboards.

Each round, players paint with a crisp-edged pen, a grainy airbrush that builds up with repeated passes, and a soft sketch brush that tapers at both ends. Other tools include a colour picker, an eyedropper, an eraser, adjustable brush size and opacity, canvas zoom and pan, multi-step undo and a guide grid that splits the reference and the canvas into matching squares. A palette drawn from each painting’s own colours is also provided. When the timer ends, every canvas is compared with the original and given an accuracy score, which decides the technical winner. Players can also give hearts to choose a favourite. Each round’s winning canvas is hung on the gallery’s winners’ wall, and a match runs through the whole selected collection.

Outside the painting itself, players can kick rivals to the floor, use emotes, join a conga line or sit on a sofa. Once per match a piece of candy appears, and the player who collects it can throw it to splash paint over an area without affecting anyone’s score. During the warm-up, players can paint surfaces such as floors, columns and other players. Paintings are by artists including Van Gogh, Vermeer and Monet, and collections run from easy to hard. Every painting has daily, weekly, monthly and all-time global leaderboards, and solo runs count towards them. Saved works go into a personal gallery where they can be replayed stroke by stroke. The host sets the round length from 1 to 15 minutes, the warm-up time and the collection. The game offers a cast of characters, from the Aristocrat to the Zombie, and is localised in 13 languages: English, Turkish, German, French, Spanish, Italian, Brazilian Portuguese, Polish, Russian, Simplified Chinese, Japanese, Korean and Traditional Chinese.
