StarL 9 Ashes Of The Past

StarL 9 Ashes Of The Past is a story-driven adventure game. It begins after a hot air balloon accident leaves the player character stranded on a magical island. Their travelling companion has disappeared, unfamiliar forces are stirring, and the island’s inhabitants insist on addressing the newcomer as a princess without explanation. The plot follows the player as they try to understand why and what role they are expected to play.

The game involves exploring a range of locations across the island, including ancient forests, hidden lakes and castles that have been frozen in stone. Progress centres on breaking curses, freeing trapped souls and restoring lost magic. A mystical mirror is a recurring focus, with the player working to repair it and learn how it connects to an ancient prophecy. The wider backstory concerns a witch who was turned to stone, a kingdom that fell into chaos, and a hero expected to return after one hundred years.

Along the way the player encounters a cast of characters, among them a talking raccoon, a mermaid, stone guardians and an alchemist whose forbidden love is described as having brought a great evil upon the kingdom. Piecing together these characters’ accounts forms part of uncovering the island’s history and the truth behind the player character’s supposed royal destiny.
