Still Sorting

Still Sorting is set on the day a bookshop relocates. The truck carrying the stock overturns, and although nobody is hurt, all 4,344 books end up mixed together. Rain is falling, so anything that does not fit in a box is carried inside and piled in front of the counter. The shop owner is left to deal with the aftermath, armed only with a manual written in a hurry, which is revealed one page at a time.

The player works a single shift sorting the stock. The shop has 26 rows, labelled A to Z, containing 182 slots between them. Every book has an assigned place, and a chart shows where it belongs. The routine is to open a box, fill a bag with books, walk to the correct row and shelve them in order. Slots that are not completely filled need a bookend.

The Z row differs from the others. It is not for comics and instead holds ledgers and member files, which are arranged by date rather than by volume. The description frames the task as a long shift, and notes that once the last book is back in its place, the walk home through the rain feels different.
