Terminator: Dark Fate – Defiance: Evolution
Evolution is a story expansion for Terminator: Dark Fate – Defiance, a real-time strategy game set in the future of the Dark Fate film. The expansion follows Lieutenant Church as the Resistance moves north into Canada in search of allies. There, Legion is running mining operations and research sites where a new type of machine, built for speed and close-quarters combat, is being developed. A group called the Integrators, who pursue hybrid augmentation of humans, forms an uneasy alliance with Church’s forces after discovering Legion’s experimental technology, leading to a contest for control between the two groups.
The expansion adds a single-player campaign of eight missions in which the player commands both Resistance and Integrator forces against Legion’s mining and research facilities. Mission types include sabotage operations, defensive sieges and full-scale assaults. Human augmentation is introduced as a battlefield technology, with enhanced muscle fibres, neural uplinks and reflex boosters producing augmented soldiers intended to match Legion’s more advanced machines.
New units are added for each faction. These include the Rev 6 mk 2 (also called the Rev 6.5), an upgraded Legion model with bladed limbs and melee assault systems; Augmented Soldiers with early augmentation technology for close-quarters fighting; the Integrator Plasma Multi-Barrel Mortar, an area-effect artillery platform; the Legion Mini-Rover, a fast reconnaissance drone; the Leopard C2 MEXAS, a Canadian tank positioned between the Bradley and Abrams; and the LAV-AT, an armoured anti-tank unit. The narrative features the perspectives of Church, Silas and 1462, and takes place across frozen forests, industrial mines and Legion facilities. The base game is required to play the expansion.
