Terrablox is a 3D voxel virtual tabletop for running tabletop RPGs. The GM builds maps from blocks, places tokens, and runs sessions with fog of war and dice. It has no built-in rules or content.

Terrablox is a virtual tabletop (VTT) set in a 3D voxel environment, intended for running tabletop RPGs or similar games. The GM builds the map from blocks, places tokens for the party and monsters, and then runs the session by moving tokens, revealing fog of war, rolling dice and chatting with players. The software has no rules or content of its own, so users supply their own game system. Because the blocks are abstract, maps can be built in any genre.

Building works like drawing pixels in three dimensions. Users paint blocks with the left mouse button or drag to fill walls and shapes such as ramps, pyramids, hills, rectangles and cylinders. Blocks can be any colour, transparent, light-emitting or non-solid. Sections of a scene can be copied and pasted elsewhere, saved to a prefab library, rotated, flipped and scaled, or shared as a text string. Selections can also be converted into props that move and rotate like tokens, for uses such as doors, furniture and vehicles. Tokens are standees made from any imported image, can be any size, and can store notes and optional custom stats such as HP and status effects. A starter library of prefabs (furniture, nature, modern and grimdark sci-fi) and character images is included. MagicaVoxel files can be imported, as can images, which can be used for reference, given optional heightmaps, or converted into voxels.

Fog of war and line of sight are fully 3D and team based. Teams can share vision or have individual vision, previously visited areas can remain visible behind partial fog, and players can be assigned to any combination of teams or granted permission to take vision from or move tokens. Lighting is raytraced through the voxel grid and includes sunlight, ambient occlusion, coloured lighting and emissive blocks. Other features include isometric, top-down and first-person camera modes, custom ruler units, a chat dice roller using Roll20-style syntax, a turn tracker, and GM and player notes stored locally as text files. Multiplayer is peer-to-peer, with the GM hosting and players connecting directly over LAN or online via Steam, with no server required.
