A first-person survival-crafting game in which a robotic Caretaker explores a flooded ruined Earth to recover human seeds and prepare humanity for launch into orbit.

The Last Caretaker is a first-person survival-crafting game set on an ocean covering the ruins of Earth. Players control the last active Caretaker, a machine tasked with recovering human seeds, restoring the Lazarus Complex, and preparing a new generation of humans for launch into orbit.

Core gameplay involves scavenging abandoned facilities and wreckage for materials, which can be recycled into tools, weapons, power networks, and mission-critical modules. Players must manage the growth of recovered human seeds, restore memory data associated with them, and maintain equipment and structures needed to sustain the mission. The game also includes defensive elements, as rogue machines and hostile systems threaten the player’s progress, requiring repair, maintenance, and upgrades to equipment.

Exploration forms part of the experience, with locations such as Sanctuary docks, Refuel Outposts, underwater cities, and Seed Vaults scattered across the ocean. The narrative is conveyed through these environments, along with logs and memories left behind by a civilization that attempted to survive beyond its own world. The end goal involves restoring launch infrastructure and sending raised humans into orbit.
