The Precinct

The Precinct is a police simulation and action sandbox game set in the fictional 1980s East Coast city of Averno. Players take on the role of Officer Nick Cordell Jr, a rookie beat cop who patrols the streets, responds to callouts, and investigates the circumstances surrounding his father’s murder in the line of duty.

Gameplay involves exploring the city on foot, in a squad car, and by helicopter, responding to a range of sandbox crimes such as parking violations, street racing, drug deals, bank heists, and gang shootouts. Players can engage in vehicle chases through destructible environments and choose their own tactics during pursuits and shootouts. A support system allows officers to call in backup, including squad cars, roadblocks, and spike strips, or to handle situations alone.

The city of Averno features a day/night cycle and dynamic weather, with distinct districts ranging from the Projects to the Financial District. The game includes a narrative strand involving the investigation of local gangs and the conspiracies behind their control of the city, set within a visual style inspired by 1980s neon-noir aesthetics.
