The Skin Stapler
The Skin Stapler is a horror game set in Carrion City, where a serial killer skins victims and staples their flesh to walls. Players primarily control burned-out detective Dick Slater as he investigates the murders, but the game also shifts perspective to other characters who are stalked through homes, workplaces, and city streets.
Gameplay combines investigation and puzzle-solving with survival horror sequences. As Dick Slater, players examine crime scenes, piece together clues from distorted audio tapes, and work to uncover the truth behind the killings. Other playable segments focus on characters attempting to survive encounters with the killer, offering different types of gameplay depending on the character.
The game is fully voiced, with dialogue for its detectives, victims, and killers. Its visual and tonal style draws on 1980s VHS horror and exploitation films, featuring stylised violence, neon-lit environments, and a grindhouse aesthetic that mixes horror with dark humour. It is developed by Tainted Pact Games, the studio behind Suffer the Night, Terror at Oakheart, Massacre at the Mirage, and Flesh Made Fear.
