THE WELL IS NOT EMPTY

The Well Is Not Empty is a horror game in which the player is sent down a village well after residents hear something moving beneath it and their water supply begins to run out. Tied to a rope, the player climbs down to discover an abandoned construction site for a prison and must find out what happened there and locate a way back out. Notes and clues scattered through the ruins describe events that took place underground.

The player moves through tunnels by clearing rubble and can strike rats with a rusty spoon; killing the rats may uncover items they were eating. Some areas are inhabited by light-sensitive creatures, and the player must operate a hand-crank generator to power the lights long enough to pass through their den before the rooms go dark. Approaching the creatures’ gate too closely results in being grabbed, and the player escapes through a quick-time event.

The game also includes balance sections in which the player crosses wide chasms by leaning left and right to stay upright, with a fall as the penalty for losing balance.
