Toxic Crusaders is a beat 'em up featuring seven playable characters battling across eleven pixel-art levels, with local co-op for up to four players.

Toxic Crusaders is a beat ’em up in which players control one of seven characters from the Tromaverse, fighting through eleven levels rendered in full-colour pixel-art graphics. The game follows the Crusaders as they attempt to stop the schemes of Czar Zosta and Dr. Killemoff, battling enemies such as Radiation Rangers, thugs, and zombie chickens along the way.

Up to four players can take part in local co-operative play, choosing from characters including Toxie, Nozone, Junkyard, Major Disaster, Headbanger, Yvonne, and Mrs. Junko. The levels contain references, easter eggs, and cameos connected to other Troma properties.

The game serves as a spiritual successor to the 1990s Toxic Crusaders cartoon and includes over 20 minutes of hand-drawn motion comics that reveal the story between episodes. It has been approved by Lloyd Kaufman and the Angry Video Game Nerd.
