Traveler Stories: Journeys of Real People
Traveler Stories: Journeys of Real People is a visual novel with simulation elements. Around 80 percent of its narrative is drawn from true events, portraying the experiences of real-life travellers, including Rieko Ayumi, Kenty and Bell. The player takes the role of a staff member at a Tokyo bar frequented by travellers, engaging in conversations that gradually reveal each character’s personal history and outlook on life.
Conversations begin as casual small talk but deepen as the player’s bond with each traveller grows, unlocking more detailed accounts of their journeys, including near-death experiences and personal reflections. Choices made during these interactions affect parameters that in turn alter the appearance of the bar’s signboard, visually reflecting the player’s progress. The protagonist also keeps a notebook, the Learning Notes, recording lessons and reflections drawn from the travellers’ stories as the game progresses.
The game includes a background gallery of 120 scenes depicting locations around the world, shared through the travellers’ accounts. Approximately 70 percent of these backgrounds were created using AI image generation, with AI-generated images marked by identification tags in the gallery.
