Vinyl Freak: Unsorted

Vinyl Freak: Unsorted is a first person restoration game. The player takes on the role of the new owner of a vinyl record store that was previously run by their late Aunt Jolie, and must prepare the shop for its grand re-opening. A cat accompanies the player while they work. The developer states that the game contains no AI-generated content, and that the record artwork consists of drawn, painted or photoshopped royalty free images made by humans.

The main tasks involve exploring each room to find scattered vinyl records and empty sleeves, opening crates of records and organising them, tearing down cobwebs, and throwing away trash. Boxes, shelves and decor can be moved and placed freely, so players can arrange the store and decide where sorted records are kept. Sorting records earns credits, which can be spent on upgrades such as Psychic and Vinyl Shuffle. These abilities can be combined to speed up the sorting process.

The game also includes a story element centred on Aunt Jolie’s personality. Players can look for boba collectibles she left behind, as well as hidden notes and old poems written by some of the store’s well-known patrons.
