A Hat in Time

A Hat in Time is a 3D platformer in which the player controls a small girl travelling through space, whose journey is interrupted when her fuel source, the Time Pieces, is scattered across a nearby planet. To recover them, she explores five separate worlds, each containing a variety of missions and locations, including a mystery aboard a train, a parade sequence, and a film studio run by birds.

The core gameplay involves platforming mechanics such as multiple jump types, wall climbing, and swinging across gaps. Hat Kid can collect magical yarn to stitch new hats, each granting different abilities, such as a witch hat for creating explosive mixtures or a mask that reveals hidden dimensions. Badges can be attached to hats to modify or enhance their effects, and these badges can be found, purchased, or traded with characters in the game world.

A Hat in Time was funded through Kickstarter, exceeding its original funding goal significantly. The game includes modding support through Steam Workshop, along with an in-game screenshot mode.
