ANOMALOGIST: Inumaki Manor
ANOMALOGIST: Inumaki Manor is a first-person horror investigation game set in the abandoned Inumaki Estate, a mansion combining Japanese and Western architecture that has stood empty for 20 years. After demolition work is halted by a series of accidents, the shrine maiden of Inumaki Shrine asks the player, a paranormal investigator, to gather the coordinates needed for an exorcism. The player’s task is not to remove the spirits but to record evidence of the haunting as digital data, uncovering a story that traces back to the Taisho era.
The game is split into two phases. During the day, the player can move freely around the mansion, searching for diaries, archives and items left by former residents and solving puzzles and ciphers. From midnight until 6:00 AM, the player must stay in a single room without moving, relying on equipment to observe and record activity. Devices include a Trifield Meter that reacts to spirits, a microphone level meter for environmental sounds, a Spirit Box that picks up voices through radio static, a Ghost Compass that indicates the direction of occurrences, and a flashlight with a UV light for revealing hidden traces. Relics found during the day, such as red shoes or dirty marbles, can be used at night to deliberately provoke stronger phenomena.
Remaining in a room with active phenomena raises a Mental Contamination Level, shown through visual noise and an intensifying heartbeat; if it rises too far, the player loses consciousness before dawn and the game ends. Recorded phenomena and discovered documents are compiled into a Verification Report, and gathering enough evidence advances the investigation, unlocking new rooms and revealing more of the estate’s history. The developer permits streaming and monetised video content, asking that creators link to the Steam page and avoid major plot spoilers in titles and thumbnails.
