Commit!!! is a life and career simulation about working as a software developer, in which you take jobs, complete coding tasks as minigames, and manage debt in inherited codebases.

Commit!!! is a life and career simulation in which the player works as a software developer. Days are planned in slots, and development tasks are resolved through a system called the Commit Pulse. Feature work, bug fixing, merge conflict resolution, refactoring, stack trace hunting and code review are each handled by a separate minigame based on the corresponding operation. A well executed task earns an Ace, while a poor result introduces a hidden bug that QA may or may not catch before it reaches production. Bank balance and nerves are both tracked as stats, with rent and weekly performance reviews adding pressure.

The central antagonist is a legacy monolith inherited from a previous developer. Unfixed bugs and shortcuts accumulate as quality debt, which is scored against reliability at ship time, and this debt grows even while the player sleeps. Jobs come from startups, enterprises, agencies and one off gigs, each with its own codebase and debt. The player interviews for positions, negotiates salary, works to keep the job through reviews and can earn raises or be fired. It is also possible to found a company, which introduces a burn rate, weekly revenue and a single hire whose commits are not the player’s own. Part way through a run the industry shifts into an AI era, where subscribing to an assistant allows work to be delegated but leaves AI Residue, meaning hidden debt and bugs behind a misleading pass state.

Outside the codebase, players can post to the DevWire feed to gain followers and build or damage a reputation, and can receive recognition from Legendary Coders. Runs are deterministic and seed based, and include events, choices, relationships, a cat, burnout and an epilogue that reflects what was shipped and skipped. The game uses a retro phosphor terminal visual style and includes an in game reference called the Commiepedia covering languages, industries and developer folklore. There is full gamepad support, Steam Deck support at a native 1280 by 800 resolution, and 50 achievements, including hidden ones tied to approval from ten Legendary Coders.
