CryptidCam

CryptidCam is a short photography adventure game in which the player takes on the role of a photographer hired by cryptozoologist Dr. Ted Krupp. The goal is to venture into the woods and photograph various cryptids, including The Loch Ness Monster, The Loveland Frogman, Bigfoot, and others, for inclusion in Ted’s research report, the Cryptid-Nomicon.

Players move freely through the woods and can interact directly with cryptids to provoke different behaviours, such as moving quietly to catch them sleeping, feeding them, or throwing objects to catch them off balance. Photos are scored based on factors including the cryptid’s position in the frame, distance from the camera, direction faced, and visibility, with bonus points available for interesting poses or capturing multiple cryptids in one shot. Photos are submitted to Ted for review, with the aim of improving on previous scores.

The game includes a guide called the Cryptid-Nomicon, which unlocks entries and real life trivia about cryptids such as the Flatwoods Monster, Bigfoot, and Tsuchinoko as they are photographed. Between photography sessions, players can spend time at a cabin lab talking with Dr. Ted, who has more than five lines of unique dialogue. The game features 8 cryptids to find and photograph in total.
