Cursed Words starts like Boggle and ends somewhere else entirely, letters, numbers, chess pieces, whatever the run throws at you. It's a roguelike word game that quietly stops being a word game.

Cursed Words looks like a nice cosy word game at first. You’re spelling things out Boggle style, feeling clever, and then the run decides to mess with you. Letters turn into numbers. Numbers turn into chess pieces. Eventually you might not have letters at all and you’re still somehow building a score. We love that kind of escalation.

Every run is built on four things: your Character, your Stickers, your Stamps and the Tiles you bring into fights. Mix those together and you get wildly different runs each time, five stages deep with encounters and a boss to close each one out. Win and you unlock Challenges and Crown tiers that crank up the difficulty and ask you to break the game in new ways.

There’s a genuinely huge amount to dig into here, 300 stickers and stamps for building daft synergies, 11 characters that play nothing alike, 20 bosses who’d love to ruin your day, and 26 challenges that flip the rules entirely. If you want to prove your good runs weren’t a fluke, Challenge Crowns and Quests are there waiting to make things properly hard.
