Doomsayer
Doomsayer is a turn-based tactics game with roguelike structure, set in a hand-painted dark fantasy world. The player takes the role of a prophet known as a Speaker. Each turn, the player declares their intended action, such as a step, a strike or a stand, and every enemy commits its response to that declaration before the player actually moves. The player can then read the enemies’ committed replies and either follow through or break their declaration, leaving opponents reacting to a move that never happens.
A resource called Fate lets the player alter the board with a set of six verbs, including pushing or beckoning enemies into hazards, swapping positions, calling down a smite, or igniting the ground. Five deception tricks add further options, such as planting a forged token, feeding a false destination to a single enemy, or issuing two declarations at once. Before each fight, the player can also wager oaths on how the encounter will unfold, for example taking no damage or defeating two enemies in one turn. Fulfilling an oath grants Fate, while failing it costs health, with larger rewards and penalties attached to riskier oaths.
Runs take place along a branching road of fights, shrines, wayside oracles and relic reliquaries, and no two routes are the same. There are five Speakers to choose from, each with a distinct loadout, plus dozens of relics, oaths, tricks and enemy rule sets to learn. After completing a run, players can progress through eighteen Deeper Dooms, each raising the difficulty of enemies, stakes and the time limit, towards Marks of Mastery. A Daily Omen mode gives all players the same seed, Speaker and decree for a single attempt, with results tracked on a worldwide leaderboard.
