Farthest Frontier

Farthest Frontier is a city-building and survival strategy game in which players lead a group of settlers to establish a town in untamed wilderness. Core gameplay involves harvesting raw materials, hunting, fishing and farming to sustain a growing population, while producing crafted goods for trade and equipment. The game includes an optional pacifist mode for players who wish to avoid combat, alongside adjustable difficulty settings that allow features such as invaders and disease to be toggled on or off.

The game features a detailed farming system with 12 crop types, each requiring management of soil fertility, crop rotation and protection from weather and disease. Town development includes over 190 buildings, multiple building tiers, and a technology tree with more than 140 points of progression. Villagers operate within a real-time simulation, performing jobs, transporting goods and living out daily routines, with systems in place for road networks, storage and trade to manage the flow of resources.

Additional systems include historical diseases such as dysentery, scurvy and bubonic plague, which are managed through clean water, diet, clothing and healer’s houses. Maps are randomly generated with customisable terrain and resource settings, offering varied biomes and challenges. Players can also engage in town defence against raiders, progressing from basic palisades to stone walls, towers and recruited soldiers. The game supports Steam Workshop integration and modding through Unity development tools.
