A roguelike in which you control a knight's luck rather than the knight himself, spending and earning fortune as a conserved currency across a 24-floor dungeon.

Fortuna’s Ledger is a roguelike in which the player does not directly control the hero. Sir Bramble descends through the Vault on his own, moving and attacking without input from the player. Instead, the player acts as his luck, determining outcomes such as whether an attack lands cleanly, whether a chest contains anything of value, and whether a trap is triggered. The game treats luck as a currency rather than as randomness.

The central mechanic is the ledger. Favourable results cost luck, so the player spends points to secure a critical hit or to deflect an incoming blow. Unfavourable results earn luck back, so accepting a weaker strike, a failed item or a poorer reward adds to the balance. The balance is a single conserved figure, and the player can borrow beyond it. At the foot of each staircase an Audit takes place: interest is applied to any debt, and an Auditor takes control of outcomes until the balance is repaid.

A run covers 24 floors divided into 4 acts, each ending with a boss encounter tied to the player’s debt. There are 65 relics that alter how luck is spent, some beneficial and some cursed, along with a travelling Merchant, a Wheel of fortune, shrines, oddities, and an opening wager that changes based on the previous run. Four heroes are available, each with different characteristics and a different relationship to debt. Additional systems include Vows that impose self-set restrictions, a Bestiary and Cabinet to fill, and 20 tiers of Audit, a stacking difficulty setting that makes the game’s accounting stricter with each tier.
