Trumps Of Albion
Trumps Of Albion is set in a Britain broken by the battle of Camlann. In this version of the legend, Merlin has bound all movement and combat into a card rite: he acts as the Dealer, handing every character sixty cards each day. Dying in battle is treated as a discard, with the fallen returned to the world rather than lost. The game runs in a browser or on desktop and launches with English and Traditional Chinese language support.
Cards serve two purposes. The same card can be played either to move along a route map of the British Isles or to attack in an instanced, tactical duel that runs on a charge-time clock. A character’s defence is determined by the guard value printed on the card they have just committed, and plays cannot be reversed. The world is persistent and shared: there is a single Britain rather than separate copies, and when a player logs out on any device their character remains on the map as an NPC that other players can encounter, fight or trade with.
Character progression draws on three bloodlines and a branching tree of callings, including knights, hedge-mages and wayfarers, along with the promotions each unlocks. Skills are organised around an elemental wheel. Figures from Arthur’s age have been bound into Merlin’s deck as Trumps, some of which have broken free and roam the map as bosses; defeating one grants the player its skill, but also draws the deck’s attention towards them. The tone is described as deadpan comedy, with its jokes drawn from source texts such as Malory, the Mabinogion and the Gawain-poet.
