GearGrit
GearGrit drops you into the boots of Tansy Geargrit, wrongfully accused and thrown in prison by the Onyx Directorate. She breaks out, overhears something she really shouldn’t have, and suddenly the whole government wants her gone. What follows is a proper action platformer with shooting, exploring, and plenty of chaos, all wrapped up in a style that’ll hit you right in the nostalgia if you grew up on PS2 platformers.
Mechanica itself is a semi-open world full of connected levels to poke around in, so there’s always somewhere new to explore between the main story missions. We love that there’s stuff to do beyond the campaign too, with time trials, vehicle races, and other city activities to keep you busy, plus a Wanted system that sends the Onyx Directorate after you if you start causing trouble.
On PC you get full gamepad support, remappable controls, accessibility options, and solid fidelity settings so you can tune it exactly how you like. It also plays nicely on Steam Deck, and with cross-saving you can pick up wherever you left off no matter what you’re playing on.
