Imprinted

A haunting desktop mystery where restoring old tapes means unearthing ghosts, both literal and personal. Imprinted is a slow-burning thriller you play entirely through a simulated OS.

Imprinted casts you as Vince, a sound engineer who’s heard just about everything, from botched live gigs to fake ghost recordings. But the tapes that land on his desk this time are different. They belonged to Viola Fossati, a musician who vanished in Northern Italy nearly fifty years ago, and the more Vince restores, the deeper he gets pulled into her story, and his own.

The whole game plays out inside a simulated OS, which we love as a setup. You’re digging through old emails, browsing forums, poking around Vince’s messy dating history, and using genuinely detailed audio restoration tools to piece broken recordings back together. There’s even a working music composition tool called Nuvola if you want to mess about with Vince’s unfinished ideas.

It’s a slow burn, more psychological thriller than jump scare horror, and it takes its time letting the mystery unfold across Northern Italy and Southern Germany. If you’re into found footage, FMV, and stories that reward actually reading the emails instead of skipping through them, this one’s worth sinking into.
