Mutter is a stop-motion styled adventure game set in 1940s rural England, following a boy caring for his mother as she transforms into something monstrous.

Mutter is an adventure game set in rural England in 1940, during the Second World War. Players take on the role of Maddox Holloway, a nine-year-old boy whose mother is being transformed by a mysterious affliction while his father is away at war. The game follows Maddox as he tries to survive, care for his mother, and uncover the cause of his family’s curse.

Gameplay combines exploration, environmental puzzles, and platforming elements across an interconnected countryside, which players can traverse using a bicycle to reach different locations tied to the story’s quests. A resource and crafting system is also included, requiring players to tend a garden, gather vegetables and herbs, and prepare potions, soups, and other dishes needed to sustain both Maddox and his mother.

The game features a handcrafted stop-motion visual style and an original musical score. Its narrative focuses on themes of childhood grief, trauma, and family relationships, framed through psychological tension rather than conventional horror.
