My Darling Dark Elf

My Darling Dark Elf is a visual novel set in Alpenrose, a small and secluded village. The protagonist, Nienke, is a dark elf from the only dark elf family in the village. She has been teased for her appearance and for being shorter than her peers after a childhood illness. Her best friend Cornelia has left to attend university, while Nienke stays at home to help her parents run their café, Fleur de Lys, as they are protective of her health.

The story begins to change when Merel, another dark elf, visits Nienke and says they were friends as children. Nienke does not remember her. The narrative follows their developing relationship, which is described as a slowly building romance.

The game is a linear story with no choices and a single ending. It contains around 80,000 words of text, which the developer estimates at four to five hours of reading. Character artwork is by Toromi, and the game includes a custom soundtrack. Maids and elves with pointed ears feature among the content.
