Nothing Strange Here is an open world mystery adventure set in Larcenest Gap. The player takes the role of the town’s new journalist, who meets local residents, helps them with unusual problems and investigates hidden mysteries beyond the scope of the job. The world includes areas ranging from forests to city streets, and each area has been handcrafted for exploration and photography.

A camera is central to play. Players photograph notable moments, and completing a quest lets them choose one of three article styles to publish. The chosen article affects how the world reacts, including the gossip shown on the town’s quest board and the look and feel of certain areas. Townsfolk remember what has been written, and some characters change their clothing in response. Outcomes can be cozy, funny or mysterious.

Stickers can be unlocked by photographing strange moments, completing quests and finding hidden areas. These are used to decorate a journal, which can be styled as a scrapbook or an evidence board. The game also features achievements and a cycle of day and night. Some events, characters and secrets appear only at specific times of day.
