Oops! You’re the Hero!

Oops! You’re the Hero! is an action adventure game following a Thief who steals a forgotten artifact and is subsequently marked as the ‘Hero’. He sets out across the land to return the stolen item, accompanied by Tut Puff, a small companion who talks constantly and follows the player everywhere. The story is set in Othaya, a world that has moved on from magic and monsters, and the narrative combines humour with the Thief’s snarky, reluctant attitude towards his new role.

The game is structured level by level, with different pathways and hidden secrets scattered throughout. Players can choose whether to engage enemies or find ways around them, so combat only occurs when the player decides a fight is worth having. Armed with a sword, the player faces large monsters that rule their respective biomes, each with their own abilities, including a series of bosses.

The developer lists exploration of a fantasy world in which the player is the target, optional combat encounters, a story-driven narrative, branching routes based on whether the player chooses to fight or flee, the ever-present companion character and flying sheep among the game’s features.
