Plan B: Colombia Edition is a management simulator set within an illicit production and distribution operation. The player begins with a single small hidden lab and works to expand it into a wider network made up of production sites, warehouses and distribution routes. The developer states that the game is not intended to glorify crime, but to present high-pressure management with consequences that are never far away.

The core of the game involves balancing several competing concerns: the quality of each batch, the security of the operation, ongoing expenses and the level of police attention the business attracts. Employees are treated as liabilities and supplies such as solvent carry a cost. Along the way the player deals with middlemen, attempts to fix inspections, and must contend with surprise raids, leaks and betrayals, any one of which can collapse the entire business.

The final stage of the chain is air export. This involves preparing shipments, selecting routes and managing risk while conditions change and controls tighten. Players choose their own approach, either expanding cautiously and playing it safe or committing fully in pursuit of larger profits.
