A 2D hand-drawn point-and-click adventure in which questfarer Kabe arrives at Stoneroost, a settlement built inside a crater on the Stone, and must rely on puzzle-solving rather than force.

Questfarers of the Stone is a 2D adventure game set in a dark fantasy world called the Stone. Players control Kabe, a questfarer who arrives at Stoneroost, a place built inside one of the Stone’s many craters, carrying only his diary and a war hammer. He is soon joined by other questfarers, and together they confront a location where corruption seeps out of the earth itself. The story centres on solving the mystery of this world through thought rather than combat.

The game is built around a puzzle system that is tied directly to the setting and narrative, with visual clues to puzzles placed throughout the environments so that observation is rewarded. Players can walk from one end of the world map to the other without loading breaks, or use the map to fast travel. Dialogue and story expand the more the player explores.

The game features hand-drawn 2D art, with 129 illustrated backgrounds and frame-by-frame traditional animation for the protagonist’s actions. It includes more than 45 fully voiced characters and an ambient world of sound, colour and animated movement. It was developed by a single person, the creator of the freeware game Duty and Beyond, and is presented as a high-resolution tribute to classic 2D adventure games and animated films.
