Rita

Rita is a puzzle-adventure game set in the town of Aspendale in 1933. Players guide Rita, a chicklet with a talent for word puzzles, as she collects letters scattered throughout the world to complete crosswords and progress her personal story, which spans from her youth to grandparenthood.

The core gameplay combines word-based puzzles, including crosswords, word searches, rebus puzzles and anagrams, with light platforming segments. Solving these puzzles affects the game world directly, triggering environmental changes such as ramps appearing, bridges repairing, trains manifesting or trees growing, opening up new areas to explore in a manner reminiscent of light metroidvania design.

The game features a narrative built around life lessons and memories, presented as small puzzle sequences, alongside a cozy art style and soundtrack. Players meet various characters throughout Rita’s life and eventually encounter her grandchicklet, learning about the bond between them.
