Sunset Summit
Sunset Summit is a cooperative climbing game in which a team of up to eight elderly hikers attempt to reach the top of ancient summits on floating sky islands before sunset. It includes 16 handcrafted climbing routes spread across four distinct islands, with each route lasting around an hour and harder difficulties available. The game can also be played offline as a solo experience.
Players climb using axes and can assist one another with ropes and item delivery drones. Less conventional equipment is also available, including pogo sticks, booster pills and umbrellas. Falling is not permanent: checkpoints are placed regularly along each route and players respawn instantly, with the developers describing the design intent as prioritising fun over frustration. Communication between team members is handled through proximity chat and walkie talkies, and an in-game camera lets players take photographs during the climb.
The developers state that every asset, route, character and piece of music was made by hand without the use of AI. Sunset Summit is developed by brothers Andrew and Joe Fender, who previously worked together on the horror game DEVOUR.
